HONDA CR-V

The small crossover SUV, Honda CR-V, is produced by Japanese automobile giant, Honda. First CR-V model hit the market in the model year 1996. It shares its most of the components and design cues from Honda Civic. The letters CRV in the brand name refers to “Comfortable Runabout Vehicle”. It is offered in either front wheel drive or in all wheel drive. In Australia and United Kingdom, it is offered in all wheel drive systemFirst Generation (1996-2001)


The first generation
 Honda CR-V model was released in the model year 1995 as 1996 vehicle. It had the wheel base of 103.0 inches, length of 178 inches, width of 69 inches and height of 65.9 inches.
The standard engine to the 1996 model include a 2.0 liter I-4 version that delivers 126 hp of power and 133 lb ft of torque and it comes mated to either 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission. The fuel tank in the engine has capacity to fill up to 15 US gallons. The Honda CR-V relates to Honda HR-V, Honda Civic and Honda Integra. For 1996, offered in single trim model, LX.

Third Generation (2007-Present)

The Honda CR-V released in 2007 is also called as Honda CR-V EX in United States. The powertrain options remain same, but generate more power. Available transmissions to the engines include 5-speed automatic and 6-speed manual.
The exterior dimensions of Honda CR-V have been enhanced. Now, it has the wheelbase of 103 inches, 177.9 inches length, 72 inches width and 66 inches height. The current generation Honda CR-V is related to Acura RDX, Honda Element and Honda Civic SUVs.

With a powerful I-4 engine equipped, this SUV can achieve fuel economy of 20 miles per gallon in the city premises and 24 miles per gallon on the highway roads.
